100 words - day 7
Drat it happened I missed a day! And it was a Monday! But rather than get too worried, I am jumping back in and carrying on. I’ve read it takes a while for a habit to form and the best thing to do is just jump back into it rather than overthink and over analyse it.
Back to the business of making a map, which to give it its proper name is Cartography.
Wikapedia defines Cartography as
“The study and practice of making and using maps. Combining science, aesthetics and technique, cartography builds on the premise that reality (or an imagined reality) can be modeled in ways that communicate spatial information effectively.”
Britannia defines Cartography as
“the art and science of graphically representing a geographical area, usually on a flat surface such as a map or chart.”
In both cases this really is a combination of the art and science, and I think this is why I love maps so much. They tell a story in a very visual way, but there is fact behind that story.
